To help prospective students better understand the Department of LOHAS Industries, we hosted two meet-up events on April 12 and 13 in Taipei and Yilan, marking the first face-to-face gathering with candidates and their parents.
At the Taipei session, Department Chair Professor Chien-Chih Chen introduced the unique features and abundant learning resources of the LOHAS Industries program. Full-time faculty members also attended, sharing their academic expertise and the courses they offer.
We were honored to have alumnus Hsuan-Yu Chang speak about his learning journey in the department and his exchange experience in Mainland China. Having graduated just over a year ago, Hsuan-Yu expressed his envy toward incoming freshmen who now only need to pay NT$2,025 for computer usage and student insurance fees. He encouraged students to make full use of the rich resources available, noting that with the right approach, they too can achieve meaningful results.
Senior student Wan-Ning Chu, who has been accepted into the Graduate Institute of Gerontechnology and Service Management at Mackay Medical College, shared her university journey through a talk titled “College Life Guide: Academics X Clubs X Those Crazy Days.” She emphasized the importance of earning relevant certifications to better prepare for career development after graduation.
Another highlight of the event was the attendance of newly admitted student Chih-An Liu, who was accepted through the athletic performance admission track. She shared how the warmth and genuine care shown by the department's faculty were key factors in her decision to join the LOHAS Industries program.
At the Yilan meet-up, two senior candidates participated, embodying the spirit of “lifelong learning.” Their presence deeply impressed the faculty and sparked reflection on how to redesign classroom management and course planning to better accommodate diverse age groups once they enroll.
Thanks to the enthusiastic participation of faculty, students, and prospective candidates, both sessions concluded successfully. We look forward to growing and learning together in the LOHAS Industries Department!
